April 2nd 2009 is the date when world leaders will meet in London. Visiting the official website of the London Summit, http://londonsummit.gov.uk you can know more about this summit. Just let me tell you the countries that will join the summit so you can see how important the summit will be: Germany, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, South Corea, Spain, USA, France, Holland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Czech Republic (EU Presidency) , South Africa and Turkey. Barack Obama will be there.
This summit may influence the lives of future generations and there is one thing that as the webmaster of THE.LONDON.CAT I cannot forget: For the first time in history, BRILIANT IDEAS CAN REACH THE SUMMIT THROUGH INTERNET!
That did not happen before! Now, thanks to Internet, anyone with an idea can write it and it may reach our leaders. If you visit the official site you will find they have made a website with channels in YouTube, Flickr and with a very very good suggestion: to tag with londonsummit2009 any page we find interesting which is related to the topics of the summit. This means that internauts can have a say! This post. for example, has the tag londonsummit2009 and is bookmarked in delicious. So it is easy it reaches people related to the summit!
Taking into account that THE.LONDON.CAT is redirecting just to this post about the London Summit it is quite easy that people remember this place.
So, it is possible thanks to Internet to reach the people related to the summit topics. This is possible but it is NOT ENOUGH.
People can reach so this post BUT this is only THE FIRST STEP.
The SECOND STEP is that what they find here IS OK …,
To be ok means that the content is related to the summit and gives good ideas.
To do that I will try to put my own ideas and if you wish you can give yours through comments. Depending what we say, this post can make history or it can remain, as most of posts remain, as a castle in the air.
By the way, I have opened the email acount londonsummit2009@gmail.com where you can send suggestions.

My first suggestion: The London Summit website is a very good website, I think, but it has a current problem: most of the times you cannot access it. Maybe there should be a mirror site?
My second suggestion: A little summary of the webpage in different languages so that people who do not speak English are not excluded from the debate.

Fortunately now I can access the official website. As I am afraid I may not access it when I wish I just make here a summary of it to share with any visitor to THE.LONDON.CAT. At the top of it you see a blue kind of banner. There is the planet Earth with the Sun and the light of the Sun. Spain is not on the sunny side whereas Great Britain is.
Then you have links to SUMMIT AIMS, JOIN THE DEBATE, GLOBAL UPDATE, MEDIA CENTRE. As you surf through the main page you see a part called NEWS. Behind there is a FLICKR and a YOUTUBE section. In the middle of the main page the news continue. I like the design colours of THE ROAD TO THE LONDON SUMMIT. On the left there is NEWSS FEED RSS and WHAT IS THE LONDON SUMMIT? Here there is the section FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS. Then there is the EDITOR’S BLOG and ASK A MINISTER. There is a section called JOIN THE DEBATE which includes ASK A QUESTION, THE ECONOMISTS’ DEBATE, THE YOUTUBE DEBATE and BLOGS. Then there is a section called WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING with DELICIOUS/LONDONSUMMIT. This is the section where I would like THE.LONDON.CAT to appear! But my content is still not good enough so it does not appear yet!
There is also a RELATED SITES section.

I continue summarising the content of the official website (it is away to practise my English, to learn good web design and try to know more about The London Summit 2009)
Below THE LONDON SUMMIT 2009 you can read STABILITY, GROWTH, JOBS. In reading WHAT IS THE SUMMIT FOR? I see highlighted:
coordinated actions to revive the global economy – reforming and improving financial sectors and systems –
principles for reform of international financial institutions
One of the things I like about what is said in the website is that the recovery must be sustainable and low carbon in nature.
In the GLOBAL UPDATE we see a map pins in some countries and with photos of presidents of State. You can see the map at http://www.londonsummit.gov.uk/en/global-update/
(Another thing that I find interesting is to look at ALEXA DATA about the official website. Currently is 3.069.792. The official website just does not say anything about alexa data but I like you to know.)
In the GLOBAL UPDATE there are countries missing like SPAIN or HOLLAND. When you choose a country you can find news related to the summit in the language of the country. At least this happens if you visit ARGENTINA.
In the MEDIA CENTRE section there is a part called “Web managers resources and branding”
There you can read things like: “We’re happy for you to reuse our content. In fact we encourage you to take our content and embed it on your website.
We’d rather you didn’t copy and paste text without attributing it to us. But we’d be delighted if you quoted content from this website, and provided a link back to the source. ”
As you see THE.LONDON.CAT is one of those happy to reuse the material!

In the message above, written in Catalan, I tell people who understand Catalan about the London Summit and about the opportunity to have a say. If someone writes here I won’t have any problem to translate into English so that the global community can know about proposals, idea from the Catalan cultural community!

Ohpps! It has happened again. The official website is not available! I wonder what is going on. I just would like to know more about where the summit will be taking place, what will be the menu and those kind of details.
It is quite discouraging that such a well done website cannot be reached at all times. But just this problem brings another suggestion I would like to make to the world leaders:
INTEGRAL CARE MANAGER.
During years I’ve been working here and there and I have realised that almost everywhere there is a person missing. Let it to be called the integral care manager. This person should have the responsability to care that the things are well done! In an integral way! If we have had integral care managers everywhere I am quite sure the companies would be much more efficient. The integral care manager should be a person that has time and can look at the things from different points of view.
For example, for this summit, is there a INTEGRAL CARE MANAGER? I do not think so! For example, the integral cara manager should worry that the letters sent to the leaders of the world are written correctly. In the case of Spain they wrote Sonsales for the wife of Zapatero and not Sonsoles. The integral care manager would be worried about these kind of things. This person would have access to world leaders and also to, for example, the designers of the webpage. It would talk to a lot of people. It is a job consisting in forecasting flaws and working in different layers. For example, a INTEGRAL CARE MANAGER would realise that the official website is off quite off and will try to do something (a mirror site meanwhile?). A integral care manager would realise that Gordon Brown is not well seen in the current flick photo today and will try to improve the outlook.

It seems that protectionism is one of the dangers of this crisis. I read some weeks ago about Barack Obama possibility of being a pretectionist in connection with Iron. I imagine that if the whole planet was protectionist then the Coca-Cola would be only served in the US and the McDonalds would go back to were they were born. Holywood films only would be watched by Americans too. Who wants that?
I also have read that fiscal paradises should end. Well, I just find unfaire that some countries get rich at the expenses of others.

Yesterday I opened the blog http://londonsummit2009.wordpress.com but the truth is that I would prefer to just remain here. I’ve been reading and reading about what is going on and now what I do is to bookmark with londonsummit2009 what I find interesting instead of my own posts. So, I have found interesting articles such as http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7897342.stm
It seems there has been a row between the Czhec Republic and Franc. The car industry is in the middle. It seems that Sarkozy wants to help the car factories but with the condition that the jobs to be kept should be French. He finds absurd that car for the French are made in the Czech Republic. I understand it is a bit absurd to pay for the car industry if the jobs go to another place.
Anyway, in Spain happens something similar. I have read that Nissan may not reduce jobs. But in order to do that it seems that the new factory that was going to be built in Morocco is going to be cancelled. If this is the case, how on earth can anyone blame the Moroccans who want to come to Europe if we do not let invest there?
I also find a bit strange to invest in the car industry when what we need are less cars!
Who knows, the next step in this crisis is that the governments begin not to have money to lend!
Poor future generations! Full of debts and with a planet too hot!
